Frames & Watercolors

One of the things I love most about scrapbooking is that you can really document anything you want! There are no rules when it comes to memory keeping. And in fact, you can even create a page without photos! I love to include my children’s artwork in our scrapbooks from time to time… also their rewards or accomplishments or even a piece of their schoolwork to document their successes, talents, handwriting, etc. Today Kim has a great example of this, only she is including her art instead of that of her children. It’s such a beautiful way to record and document not only her talent, but something she loves and is passionate about. And the results are stunning! I love the way she cut out all the little frames from the Chasing Dreams paper and used them to frame her art! Fun and gorgeous inspiration, Kim!!

I created a fun page to share a few watercolor bits and a floral painting. I don’t think there is a time I don’t create using art, even the scrappy bits. Making small marks or big splashes using paint is good practice and I usually use those scraps in some way. For this page I made a bunch of tiny paintings to use along with the lovely frame paper in the Gather collection. Those frames just screamed to be cut and used to frame small artwork!!

I cut all of the frames out that I wanted to use and next I used them to trace or sketch out their shapes on a sheet of watercolor paper. Then I painted each one with light to dark strokes and somewhat haphazard strokes leaving empty spaces. Once they were dry I cut them out and placed them behind the frames using foam stickers. The foam stickers make them have a more dimensional effect.

Once I had all of them assembled I placed them around the page like a little art gallery. This would look so cute using kids artwork too!

I thought it was a fun page to work with and plus I got to paint a little! Have an awesome day! Happy Thursday!
